DFMS is a purpose-built driver fatigue monitoring platform for Indian open-pit mining — multi-modal detection, DGMS compliance data, and fleet management integration.
Built for open-pit mining haul fleets — and extending to in-plant heavy vehicles and industrial crane cabins.

Multi-Modal Detection
No single sensor is sufficient for operational mining conditions. DFMS combines camera, physiological, and vehicle behaviour data into a unified fatigue risk index that is robust to individual sensor failures and mining-specific interference.
NIR camera tracks PERCLOS, blink frequency, head pose, and yawn events frame-by-frame. Operates in dust, low-light cab interiors, and through PPE.
EEG, HRV, ECG, and PPG from wristwatch-format wearables. Highest biological accuracy for pre-shift risk scoring and in-shift fatigue accumulation.
Steering deviation, braking events, and speed variance. Lowest cost to deploy, but high latency — detects impairment only once it is already acute.
A unified risk model that combines all three streams. PERCLOS + HRV + vehicle context gives a risk score that no single sensor can produce alone.
Context matters as much as detection. A PERCLOS threshold breach at hour two of a day shift carries different operational weight than the same reading at hour ten of a night shift. DFMS weights fatigue signals against shift hour, ambient temperature, route profile, and pre-shift biometric data where available.
The Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) recorded 226 fatalities in Indian coal and lignite mines over five years, with 53 in both 2020 and 2024. Vehicle operations in active mining zones are consistently implicated. Conventional safety protocols are not improving the pattern.
DFMS is designed to produce both operationally useful real-time signals and a regulatory-ready safety evidence base — treating those as one programme, not two.
